Childbirth and Parenting Assistance Volunteer Opportunities
Catholic Charities provides an environment where parents can build loving bonds with their kids to prepare them for a healthy future. CAPA/PREPARES offers mentorship, resources and groups and classes to expecting and parenting individuals and families with children aged 5 and under.

Greeter

Days: Monday-Thursday | Shifts from 9:00am-5:00pm

Location: Front Desk

  • We love our CAPA families and want to make them feel welcome! Volunteers in this position are responsible for answering phones, welcoming families into our building, distributing diapers and formula, and scheduling clothing room appointments. Basic computer skills helpful.

 

Shopper

Days: Monday-Thursday | Shifts from 9:00am-5:00pm

Location: Clothing

  • Help families shop in our CAPA clothing room!We have a beautiful clothing room where families get to shop free of charge for their children ages 5 and under. A volunteer accompanies families into the clothing room and helps them find just what they need!

 

 

Kids Care

Days: Monday-Thursday | Shifts are flexible, including evenings

Location: Kids Room

  • CAPA offers various support groups for parents throughout the week.We want to walk the journey of parenthood with our families and know that offering childcare can be essential.Volunteers in this position would engage children in appropriate activities so parents can get the support they need.

 

Mother Mentor

Days: Flexible | 2 hours per week with a 1 year commitment

Location: In the community

  • Community volunteers are matched as mentors with young moms in the community. 1 on 1 matches meet for 2 hours a week for 12 months. Mentors provide support and friendship to new mothers on their parenting journey.

 

 

Fatherhood Project

Days: Monday | 5:30pm-7:30pm

Location: Catholic Charities Family Service Center

  • Fatherhood volunteers help mentor fathers of a child age newborn through 5 years old.Every Monday night, fathers and mentors meet in a group to help support dads.Occasional social activities include cooking, climbing, ropes courses, and more!

 

Sorting Clothes

Days: Monday-Thursday

Location: Storage room

  • Assist in sorting donations and bundling diapers and wipes.  This position is vital to our operations here at CAPA!  We distribute diapers and wipes to families once every 30 days as well as clothes once every 60 days.
