Casual. Relaxed. Easygoing.

If this sounds like your summer so far, we’re on the same page. We’ve been enjoying the clear, cool and sunny weather. It really shouldn’t end, to be honest. So we’ve been looking into ways to drag it out. Our latest idea was to schedule our annual summer event, Dig In, as late as possible. Summer can’t end if we haven’t had our summer event, right?

So we decided to schedule it for Aug. 22. That way, we’ve all got a big summer party to look forward to.

Dig In will be at the Washington Cracker Co. Building. If you haven’t been yet, you’ll want to come experience the laid-back loft style event space lit by fairy lights and framed with historic brickwork. We’ll also have mellow guitar music from Abe Kenney, playing styles from classical to flamenco.

And of course, there will be food from Jeremy Hansen of Inland Pacific Kitchen and Smoke & Mirrors Saloon.

Here’s the menu:

  • Carne asada street tacos on corn tortillas (GF)

  • Chicken satay with peanut sauce (GF)

  • Vegetable empanadas (V)

  • Bao buns (V)

  • Poutine

Yum. Plus, beer from River City Brewing and Wine from Overbluff Cellars.

Proceeds from Dig In benefit Catholic Charities’ food security programs, programs like Food For All that help everyone in our community shop at farmers markets and Senior Services, which delivers food essentials to elderly residents who can’t shop on their own.

So purchasing your tickets now not only guarantees you the best meal in Spokane that night, it helps feed people in our region who don’t have enough to eat.

So buy your tickets now, put it on your calendar, and get back to summer.
