‘Tis the season for parties. And honestly, we’re fine with that.

Hors d’oeuvres on the boss at the office Christmas party? We’re all in. White elephant gift exchange at our friends’ potluck? Sign us up. Bottomless hot chocolate at the church Christmas bazaar? We’re there for it.

Winter Carnival

That’s why we’re excited to kick off this year’s merrymaking with the Winter Carnival! This family-friendly event is an annual fundraiser benefiting Catholic Charities programs that is planned by the Catholic Charities Junior Board, our team of high school servant leaders. It’s a great way to give back to the community while getting in the Christmas spirit!

The $5 ticket price buys you an evening of fun designed just for families with young kids. There will be carnival games and unlimited popcorn and hot cocoa. We’ll be showing The Grinch all evening, too, so you can get a jump on your Christmas movie watching list! You can join the fun on Friday,

December 13 from 4–6 p.m. at the Black Box Theater at Gonzaga Prep.

Junior Board

The Winter Carnival wouldn’t happen without the commitment of the Catholic Charities Junior Board. The Junior Board is a group of future community leaders who jump in to support Catholic Charities’ mission in many ways throughout the school year. They are high school juniors and seniors with hearts for service who serve as role models for creating a more compassionate, respectful, collaborative and justice-filled community.

Junior Board members meet monthly during the school year to plan events like Winter Carnival, volunteer as a group at Catholic Charities programs, and support our special events. To join Junior Board, students must first participate in the Service Crew, where they gain valuable service experience with Catholic Charities programs.

The long-term commitment students make to Junior Board is part of Catholic Charities’ mission to partner with the greater community to serve and advocate for the vulnerable. Through service experiences, students are positively changed and impacted to commit to a lifetime of service to the poor and vulnerable.

So if you’d like to support this impressive group of young people, give back to your community, and kick off your holiday party season all in one go, join us next Friday, December 13 for Winter Carnival! You can contact Sarah Yerden if you have any questions.
