On October 19, under clear blue skies in Twisp, Washington, Catholic Charities proudly gathered to dedicate and bless Skylstad Family Haven, our newest 72-unit affordable housing community.

Bishop Emeritus William Skylstad shared reflections on his family's deep roots in the Methow Valley before joining Fr. Pedro Bautista in offering a blessing for the community and the future residents who will soon call Skylstad Family Haven home.

Catholic Charities is deeply grateful for the tremendous support that made this vision a reality in the Methow Valey. Thank you to the parishioners of St. Genevieve's Parish, the Twisp community, Mayor Hans Smith, our valued partners, Inland Group, Architecture All Forms, KeyBank, R4 Capital, and the many individuals and organizations whose dedication and generosity helped bring this project to life.

By combining accessible and affordable housing with wraparound support services, the apartment complex will be a place where families experience a stable and nurturing environment that aims to break cycles of intergenerational poverty and create opportunities for a brighter future.

Skylstad Family Haven will feature one, two and three-bedroom apartments for families earning 30-60 percent of the Area Median Income. The complex includes a common gathering space and playground.

As in other Catholic Charities family housing communities, features include resident activities, employment assistance, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, family services and senior support.

A wide range of additional services will be available to residents through referrals to partner organizations.

The property is one of 20 affordable housing projects completed by Catholic Charities Eastern Washington.
