This Week God Brough Us... Megan and Josh

This week God brought us…”Megan” and “Josh”, a young married couple with six children.  They have been served by the agency a few times in recent years. They came this week because their home is being heat-treated for bedbugs. Unfortunately, bedbugs are an issue for many of the folks we work with and the costs can be prohibitive. Megan and Josh already had the heat treatment scheduled, but it meant they would need to vacate their home for two days. Wisely, they had already arranged with Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery for the short-term care of their children (shout out to VBCN!), but they came to us for help with their own lodging for those two nights. Because we were clear that this would only be a two-night stay and because Megan and Josh had the funds to pay for one of those nights on their own, it was an easy call for us to cover the cost of the second night. A family was kept safe while a larger issue that might have derailed their long-term stability was addressed. In the end, we played a small role. But it was a crucial role for a family that is otherwise stable but confronting one of the hiccups that life can throw at any of us. Those of us who have the resources and ability to ride out life’s challenges – a car accident, weather damage, a medical crisis, etc. – can thank God for our good fortune while remembering those who struggle.
