This Week God Brought Us: Anne

“Anne” approached looking for help making her whole on November’s rent.  Anne is in her 60s and lost her husband in early summer.  She lives in affordable housing at the north end of Spokane, but without her husband’s income, she is heavily rent burdened and has spent around 90% of her income to cover the rent lately while she applies to have her rent adjusted based on the change of income.  She had documentation to corroborate this timeline.  Anne still works a handful of hours each week waiting tables at a well-known restaurant on N. Division, even as she has a hip replacement scheduled for this winter.  In the midst of mourning her husband, her car broke down and she used the last of her resource to keep her transportation to work and to medical care operating.

Anne is able to cover the majority of her rent obligation and the property manager confirmed the details and numbers.  She had not ever approached us for services before.  Anne is not on a street corner or living in a broken down RV.  She is God’s own daughter and we are privileged to offer a small amount of money to keep her stably housed while she strides into the future on a new hip.
